IMO The ‘95 to ‘96 Impala SS is the classiest and most understated sedan Chevrolet has made since the 70's. The people who own them also take remarkably good care of them, I’ve only seen a couple of these in bad shape. The rest are low mileage and immaculate, even with homie g wheels.
I also think this looks good, maybe an inch higher though.

A dealer a quarter mile from my work has two of these in maroon in perfect condition. Like, this normal Chevy dealer has two 1995 models in perfect shape with under 50,000 miles on them.

Chevy knows who buys their cars and builds them accordingly. BMW does too, but the luxury branding means they don’t have to care about middling plebian concerns like ‘longevity’ and ‘durability’.

One of my coworkers has the most perfect one ever. He gets oil samples taken, only has taken it to one mechanic, washes it weekly, etc. it’s amazinf how nice these are.

Finding one of these in clean and unviolated condition is about the same as finding an Acura Integra or late 90s Honda SI in the same condition. Very very difficult. But when you do, wow, you really want it.

Don’t look in Portland then at the for sale one. Most are junk and ran into the ground. It actually hard to find a decent car anymore locally. I looked at buying one a couple years ago when I started my first corporate office job.

These have always been high on my list of favorite cars. How they managed to make something so ugly as that generation of Caprice into something so striking is nothing short of amazing.

I love those impalas! I particularly enjoy the one Icon (The caprice and Impala of those years were basically the same tbh) made for a client who definitely isn’t a murderer that also works for a police department as detective.

You don’t like the ‘94? Same car, but it was only available in black, and had the standard non-enthusiast Caprice gauges.
Back in the 90's, my parents were looking into getting a different car. On the list was the Impala SS, but this was around 1994 so the 95-96 wasn’t considered. We ended up with a Bonneville SSEi, which was also a great car. It unfortunately was fwd, obviously, but it had a miles better interior than the Impala. Plus it was more comfortable, and handled just as well.
Dangit, now I’m going to have to shop both these cars online again.
